Aluminum polishing (aluminum surface treatment) includes deburring, smoothening and polishing aluminum surface. Aluminum polishing is normally conducted via 3-dimensional vibratory, rotary barrel and wheel grinding machines with specific surface active preparations and polishing compounds in order to achieve large quantities and great quality within minimum processing time.

Common aluminum workpieces that need polishing are rough casting workpieces (with burr, mold marks, scratches, gas porosities, blowholes) or oxidized workpieces whose surface colors have gotten dull. ALUMINUM POLISHING METHODS BY MACHINE

Aluminum polishing can be conducted via wheel grinding machine or 3-dimensional vibratory machine. Both of these methods are semi-automatic, which means they still require workers in order to operate. 

Wheel grinding machine polishing: polishing via wheel grinding machine using buff wheels/felt wheels/flap wheels/sisal wheels and specific polishing compounds according to requirement.

Vibratory & Rotary machine polishing: polishing via specialized machines such as 3-dimensional vibratory machine and rotary barrel machine. Worker fills the machine with media, specialized surface active preparations, water and the workpieces before starting the process. After the workpieces surface meets the requirement, they shall be taken out and cleaned with water. 

Vibratory and rotary machines can deburr rough aluminum workpieces (rough polishing), polish and finish the outer color (fine polishing) according to each specific demand by choosing different polishing media.

Aluminum polishing process can be broken down into 3 steps: rough, medium and fine polishing. The optimal polishing process depends on the condition of the unpolished workpiece and polishing requirements. A rough aluminum casting workpiece coming straight out of the mold normally has burrs that need to be removed via vibratory machines. Depending on the polishing requirement, the next step can either be medium or fine polishing. Normally, fine polishing via grinding machines with buff wheels, felt wheels and polishing compounds is the last step, which helps to enhance the surface brightness.
