1. What is a Non-Woven Disc?
A non-woven disc, also known as an abrasive non-woven wheel or metal non-woven wheel, is a consumable used for metal surface treatment.
Non-woven discs are used for grinding, roughing, deburring, and shaping products. They can also create hairline scratches, providing a uniform and polished surface finish.

2. Structure of a Non-Woven Disc
Raw Materials
Similar to felt wheels, non-woven discs are made from felt fibers, abrasive grains, and industrial adhesives, but differ in the manufacturing process. To produce a non-woven disc, these materials are pressed into a soft, thin disc shape at high temperatures with premium additives.
Non-woven discs usually have a thickness of 5–10 mm, come in various colors, and are not fixed. The hardness of the disc depends on the proportion of abrasive grains and adhesive used during production.
Function and Usage
Non-woven discs are used for scrubbing and polishing materials such as copper and aluminum (softer than stainless steel or iron). When mounted on a machine, felt wheels are placed on a horizontal shaft, while non-woven discs are mounted on a vertical shaft, parallel to the surface of the workpiece.
3. Advantages
Non-woven discs are widely used for cleaning, polishing, deburring, removing oxidation films, and fine surface treatment of metallic and non-metallic materials. They are suitable for both manual use and with dry or wet grinders. Non-woven discs have no speed limitations and are very easy to operate.
Being an industrial consumable with an open-structure design, non-woven discs have excellent heat resistance. Even at high temperatures, they do not burn or deform the workpiece, ensuring uniform, bright, and attractive surface finishes.
Thanks to non-woven discs, scratches, welding marks, and rust on metal surfaces can be removed, improving adhesion and contact for copper electrodes, surface coatings, and other applications.
